Phone Booths in the U.K. are cool.  I'm used to the boring modern clear plastic partitions of Canada and the U.S.  In the U.K., you'll be in the middle of nowhere, on a lonely laneway that only sees sheep and cattle and the occasional car, when all at once, you see a single red phonebox.  You won't see an overhead wire connected to it and sometimes, the closest home is miles away.  In the city, you may see several phoneboxes down the road in your line of sight....mostly red, but occasionaly black and sometimes even the newer boring varieties exist.  No matter what the attraction, the standard red phonebox always solicites a smile when North Americans see them dotted throughout the U.K. and you almost can't resist buying a tin red phonebox bank to bring that smile back home with you.
