B/W photography has always been a great love of mine.   The challenge of producing an interesting image in only black, white, and shades of grey, is appealing to me.  Interest must be held by texture, shape, and contrast, rather than a splash of colour.   I shoot far less B/W film than I should to develop the skills needed to really 'see' the right image for B/W.  I confess that there are a few images on my website that have been taken on colour film and printed on B/W paper.  The railroad track photo is one such image.  In colour, it was boring in shades of greys and neutrals.  In B/W, you can feel yourself visually walking down the track in search of treasures.

The "Gates of Glengarda" is a computer altered shot.  Taken locally on the Millennium morning, it was a dull grey day and a perfectly horrid shot.  I removed the background and played around with the histogram to commemorate its passing.  A new high rise apartment building now resides in that spot.  "Frozen Dinner" has that stark appeal.  The temptation was great to add a digital colour image of a fast food bag for a bit of northern humour.  Another lonely shot is "Cool View" depicting a bench in the dead of winter, overlooking the local skyline.  It was another cold February day and I only managed two similar shots before clambering back to my warm car.  The threat of frostbite has cut short many outdoor sessions ;-)
