The "Sleeping Tiger" shot you see here is responsible for an important shift in my photographic outlook and got the ball rolling for this website. It was taken in late winter in Las Vegas, late in the day, through a chainlink fence using a 400 mm lens. With his tongue sticking out, this big cat looks adorable, not ferocious. While it had always been fun, photography was nothing more than a part-time passion and many times my camera was left behind when there may have been an opportunity to use it. With this shot, I was suddenly inspired to 'make' my photo opportunities and go out in search of interesting subjects and unusual scenes.
A little bit of carefree time would find me out stalking in zoos, around the neighbourhood, and around the world. Thus began my Galleries and Travelogues.
The best place I found for wild animals in a natural environment is African Lion Safari in Cambridge, Ontario. Website: http://www.lionsafari.com Many animals at the park are considered 'threatened' or 'endangered' and ALS has successfully bred several endangered species. They are committed to wildlife conservation and to ensure the propogation of the animals under their care. ALS is truly a sight to behold.
